Who we are

Our story began with a burden of the heart

Founded in London in 2018 by women of Abia State parentage, united by a shared commitment to serve widows and children in their communities of origin.

The story of Abia Daughters

During frequent trips from the United Kingdom to Abia State, our founder became increasingly aware of the number of poor and indigent widows and their children who had little or no support. Their struggles touched her heart and inspired a vision to make a meaningful difference.

On her return to the UK in 2018, Abia Daughters was born. A small group of women was invited to a first meeting at a restaurant in London, where the vision and passion for the organisation were shared — and where it was agreed that membership would be open to women of Abia State parentage committed to serving our communities.

Since our inception, we have been committed to empowering indigent widows across Abia State by restoring hope, promoting dignity and creating opportunities for lasting self-reliance. Through our collective efforts, we have supported widows in distress, sponsored the education of vulnerable children in primary and secondary schools, and enabled others to acquire vocational skills through apprenticeship programmes with business owners. Many have gone on to establish and manage their own businesses.

While we are grateful for the lives that have already been transformed, much more remains to be done. With your support, we hope to raise funds that will enable us to reach even more widows and their children. These funds will be used to provide vocational training, business start-up assistance, educational support, and other forms of sustainable empowerment.

Together, we can restore hope, dignity, and opportunity to families in need.

Please join us in lifting widows and their children out of distress. Every act of kindness makes a lasting difference. Thank you for your support.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Founder’s message

Welcome to Abia Daughters.

Abia Daughters was founded in 2018 after I witnessed the difficult circumstances faced by many indigent widows and their children during my frequent visits to Abia State. Their pain became my burden, and their struggles inspired me to establish an organisation that would bring hope, dignity, and lasting change.

I believed that together, women of Abia State origin could make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who needed help the most.

Our work is inspired by the Word of God in James 1:27, which says:

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” — James 1:27 (NIV)

This scripture remains the foundation of our mission. We are committed not only to providing temporary relief but also to empowering widows through education, vocational training, business support, and community care so they can become self-reliant.

I invite you to join us on this journey. Whether through donations, partnerships, or prayers, your support will enable us to reach more families and transform more lives.
